Re-protecting SQL Cluster after moving data sources to new Server

We are using DPM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 8 and we just moved our SQL Cluster to new hardware. The old Cluster Name was SQLC2 and the new Cluster Name is SQLC3. I stopped the protection of the data sources on the old cluster and then protected them again on the new cluster.  I was hoping that DPM would take the inactive data and add it back into the protection but it created a whole new replica for every data source.  Is there anyway to get it to use the Inactive protected data or do I have to keep the data sources that are in the Inactive Protection until they age out?
